Pastured Eggs ($4.50/doz. 10% spring discount for orders over 8 doz/mo.)
Our laying hens are raised in portable, predator resistant, pens. They are kept on fresh pasture or in their winter housing connected to the garden. We feed locally produced organic grains. Pastured eggs have been found to contain 3 times more Omega 3 fatty acids than the alternative, and are known to reduce cholesterol.
Pastured Broilers ($4.80/lb organic; $3.50/lb Natural.)
These Cornish cross chickens are raised similar to the layers. Locally produced organic grains, fresh greens, fresh air, sunlight, and exercise completely change the nutritional profile of the meat. With good weather they are ready at 8-10 wks of age, weighing 3-4 lbs. This year we are also offering the choice of pastured broilers fed organic feed versus pastured broilers (called natural) fed non-gmo conventional feed at a savings. Though we believe in organic production all the way, we know that sometimes we have to make choices and thought it best to offer both varieties to allow you to decide what best meets your families needs. Call us if you need help deciding how many to order.
Stewing Hens ($2.95/lb.)
Stewing hens are those hens that are retiring from egg laying, and the meat is very tasty. Superior soup can be made with broth from stewing hens and the leftover meat is great for chicken salad and casseroles. Available in the Fall.
Katahdin Lamb ($5.50/lb + processing. $2.75/lb live Also available by the cut from $4-$17)
Bred and raised for superior meat quality. 100% grassfed. Katahdin Lamb are called hair sheep as they don’t produce an actual wool coat. They put all their energy into growing fantastic but mild meat. You won’t be disapointed.
Pastured Turkeys ($5.95/lb)
Nothing compares to the taste of a pasture-raised turkey. (These are Erick’s favorites.) They are produced (as are the broilers) to bring great delight to your holiday or every day table. Available in the Fall.
Pastured Pigs ($3.15/lb + processing, also available by the cut $4-$9)
Our pigs are raised with the same quality organic grains as our poultry. They are allowed to graze in the pasture and consume up to 30% of their diet in good greens. Because we believe organically fed pork is very important, we do not offer another feed option. Ask us why.
