Volunteer
Your time can have a real impact! Here at the farm we value your effort to make sustainable farming a success. Many do not understand the higher cost of organic foods comes from the intense labor requirement. You can help make the farm a success. Not only will your activities gain us a beautiful operation, but we could recieve cash for time. The USDA Value Added Producers Grant (VAPG) carries a 50% matching requirement. That match can be made in cash or in-kind time or donations. Following are just some of the many tasks you could help with. Whether you have an hour or a summer, we can use you.
- CSA gardens-manage them totally or volunteer for an hour of weeding (If you have thought about an internship we might be the right place. We can guide you in helping to grow a CSA. If you want a place to grow vegetables, we can make arrangements to help you own the CSA operation. Contact Jessica for more information)
- Landscaping-Our new processing facility has great potential but needs some help. We can help guide in the area of permaculture at the facility and on the farm.
- Maintenance-We can use you!
- Painting-It makes everything look better immediately.
- Kitchen installation-Help make the community kitchen a reality.
- Livestock-Assist Aaron Worden, our livestock steward, with the growing operation while learning all we have come to know about organic livestock management.
- Grounds maintenance-Enjoy the beauty of the country while mowing the lawn. We try to use minimal mowing but there is always some trimming needed.
- Hay time-We can never have too much help
- Fence building-The first thing to plan on a sustainable farm are fence posts. We are still at it.
- Marketing-I’d rather call it education. We have to get out and make others see the possibilities.
- Brochure creation-Any graphic artists out there?
- Mailers
- Phone calls
- Deliveries
- Professional services-tell us what you have to offer.
Your help is greatly appreciated
